Guerrilla marketing for our new business book has just scored another first, and without us having to lift a finger. The smart new pop song, “I Hate People”, was just streamed on the Internet. No, we are not Liar Liars. Even better, the story behind this hot tune supports the main premise of our book: Soloists rock.
Jemina Pearl is the Brooklyn-based Soloist who has proved she knows how to grab the spotlight and create an Ensemble. She was the frontwoman for the band Be Your Own Pet. When the band broke up a year ago, Pearl made the choice to go solo. “I Hate People” is the first single off of her upcoming album, Break It Up. Rather than go it totally alone, she's joined on vocals by punk rock legend Iggy Pop.
Pop, of course, is the punk rock innovator who pioneered so many hate moves — verbally abusing the audience, stage diving and other stuff we can’t mention in a business blog.
In writing the tune, Pearl appears to have been inspired by her band’s meltdown and other folks who drive her nuts. The catchy, upbeat song is sure to become all the rage in corporations from coast to coast. The chorus of the song says it all:
I hate people
But I like you
I hate people
And you do, too.
Cube dwellers will find solace — and inspiration — in Pearl's empowering lyrics. Break it Up will be out in October, but you can scream (we mean stream) “I Hate People” right this minute.
Crank it up!
